PhD Student @ McGill University

Montréal, QC., Canada

I am a PhD Student in the Water Resource and Environmental Systems Lab under the co-supervision of Dr. Zhiming Qi of McGill University and Dr. Morteza Mesbah of Agriculture and Agri-food Canada. I previously completed a B. Sc. (Agr.) at the University of Guelph specializing in plant agriculture and a B. Sc at the University of Toronto where I double majored in computer science and linguistics.

My PhD research explores the intersection of process based crop models and machine learning to obtain agricultural insights and create decision support tools, with a current focus on applying these technologies to potato production in Prince Edward Island, Canada. I also have experience in controlled environment agriculture working with CESRF at the University of Guelph for my undergraduate bachelor’s thesis as well as in plant pathology and pest control while working with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness.

In my free time I enjoy cycling, cooking, and knitting. You can reach me best by email through mariaelisa.polsinelli[at]mail[dot]mcgill[dot]ca or mariaelisa.polsinelli[at]agr[dot]gc[dot]ca. I’m always happy to chat and connect!
